The Lincoln Wood Baptist Church began in October 1977. It is our desire like the apostle Paul to glory only in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is Christ and him crucified that is the message that is sounded forth from this congregation.
We declare that He is God manifest in the flesh that died upon the cross. We declare that He died "the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18.) He did not die to make salvation possible but sure to all of those that He represented. "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive" (1 Cor. 15:22.) As all that Adam represented died even so all that Christ represented shall be made alive. Adam represented all men and we all died in him. Christ represented all that were chosen in him before the foundation of the world, and given to him in the everlasting covenant. He calls through the preaching of the gospel all those that he redeemed to trust in Him. He represented all that come to trust in Him. We glory only in Christ and his finished work of redemption that brings a sinner to God. The Lord has brought together this congregation over the years and it is our desire to honor and glorify Him. He has given us a love for Him and his gospel of sovereign grace, and He also gives us a love for each other. - Pastor David Pledger |
